The recent post on X shows both Kate Dennis and Madi Mace joining the three seniors in the ceremony today. Looks like they're both gone. I'll miss them and the effort and leadership they provided. I don't think Kate ever stopped smiling and Madi was a local tie from Parkersburg.

Gonna have to go Juco/portal routes to keep upping our win total.

Pretty cool this year with how both Men's and Women's Basketball turned things around after bad starts. Has to say something about both of the coaching staffs.

Huge for the program in its current state with all the newcomers and underclassmen and losing the only consistent player from last year's team.

We cannot be any better than the 6 seed and we can be no worse than the 7 seed, but there's a big difference between the 6 (play Kent State) and the 7 (play Ball State or Toledo). Beat Miami and we are the 6. Lose to Miami and WMU beats NIU and we are the 6. Lose to Miami and NIU beats WMU and we are the 7.

Like you said, there is a very good chance Ohio moves to 4-11 and finishes 7-11. I actually think they don't even need to steal one of those 4 underdog games...I bet 7-11 gets an 8 seed especially seeing how we will have tiebreakers over those other bottom dwellers.

The next 3 would be an absolute shock if they win any of them, but WMU at home is a good chance at a victory and maybe they can get to 8-10.

Looking back on this predicting a late charge to get to 8-10...the Kent win was indeed an absolute shock making 9-9 a possibility. A great stepping stone year, hope we can re-load and keep momentum next year.

It hurts, but it hurts a lot less than the all-league talent we lost last year in Yaya Felder. We can replace the production from the portal. With only two high schoolers signed, and five honored on Senior Day, that's at least three scholarships to work with.

I think the important thing will be keeping this young core from hitting the portal. Keep Fantroy, Tabeling, McClure, and Williams in Athens, and we have a lot to work with. Add in some new faces, and Watkins hopefully coming back, and I think we've got a solid group.

-Retain the young core
-Get a 6'2"+ player from the portal that can rebound and defend
-For the love of God stay healthy

Both freshmen that are coming in are good shooters. Dani Scully is a post so hopefully she's ready and can help some in that area in the Gabby Burris role. No word if she's starring on an X-files reboot, though.

If she's not ready quite yet, I'd like at least two bigs from the portal. Kate Dennis defended the other team's big every night. I don't see anyone on the roster I'd feel comfortable penciling in to do that, and we already needed another big on this year's team.

Ohio got off to a poor start offensively like the men did last night. Unfortunately the defense didn't do enough to allow a comeback either and we fall to Miami. Unfortunately NIU beat WMU so we should fall to 7 where it's looking like we'll play Ball State.

Do the ladies have a chance today? Too bad they finished with such a bad loss against horrible miami. Seemed like they had a bit of momentum and were playing their best ball. Falling to the 7 seed and having to face lady balls seems to be a season ender.

Honestly, no.

But surpassing last year's win total after losing your only consistent player to transfer, best players underclassmen, and injuries (again), just getting onto the NBA arena floor today is a lot to build on.

Well anything is possible after all. Western Michigan up 10 on top seed Toledo at the half.

Toledo trounces WMU in the 2nd half to win easily.

Ohio is 17.5 point underdogs. Hope they can compete and at least have something to build on.

Ohio falls 77-53.

Ball State outrebounded us 46-22! Ball State was 17/26 from two (They actually shot 31 threes). We were 13/39 from two.

Credit for getting this far with a lot of youngsters and injuries, but that needs to be a wake up call for Bob.

I sure hope we get two good posts and a starting point guard out of the portal.

We need some tall women. BSU, as so many teams we play, have much bigger, stronger players. Bob seems to think we can win with shorter, quicker players with good hands. Not sure that's a winning formula today in the MAC.

It could be if we had elite shooters. It seems we weren't a particularly good outside shooting team, which compounds a lack of size issue.

I don't think he necessarily believes that. It's just been a recruiting and retention issue in the past few years. I think the program will continue to improve under Boldon. He currently competes for recruits who are attracted to the more modern conveniences of newer facilities. Women's locker room still has original showers, etc. from 1968.

We've got a couple of really good outside shooters, and are adding two freshmen who are as well. But when you lack a post threat, it messes with your spacing. When you lack a great distributor, you get fewer clean looks.

There's a lot of good pieces on this team. If we can round it out to look more like a team, they can compete at the top of the MAC.
