The Bobcats left it on the track this weekend.  Here is how the ladies did:

The Ohio distance medley relay team broke the school record and took first place at the MAC Indoor Championships at Bowling Green State University.

The DMR team of Juli Accurso, Kiley Mathews, Courtney Weiss and Melissa Thompson finished the event with a time of 11:43.41, nine seconds faster than the school record set in 1998 by the quartet of Melissa Converse, Najah McFarland, Sabrina Miller and Julie Kline.

Annie Beecham continued her strong indoor season by finishing second in the 5,000 meters. Her performance was trumped only by Miami's Rachel Patterson who set a MAC indoor record with a time of 16:32.01, three seconds faster than Beecham.  Annie was named All-MAC Second Team for her performance in the 5,000 meters.

Lauren McCullough placed eighth during the finals, snatching a point for the Bobcats. The sophomore threw personal bests of 16.41 meters (53-10.25).

The first event of the day was the pentathlon which saw Ohio's Brittany Tyree finish sixth with 3,530 points. The junior achieved personal bests in the high jump (1.63 meters - fourth) and shot (10.49 meters - eighth), won the 800 meters with a time of 2:22.10 and placed ninth in the long jump.

Hope McCarty continued Ohio's impressive performance in the 800-meter portion of the event, finishing second as Olivia Vitou finished sixth. Vitou also earned top-10 finishes in the 60 meter hurdles (PR time of 9.13) and long jump.

On the final day of competition, four Bobcats earned top-10 finishes, including Beecham in the 3,000 meters. The senior finished third with a time of 9:43.62 while freshman Emily Pifer ended up in 10th with a time of 10:06.08.

Juli Accurso earned a fifth-place finish in the mile, finishing in less than five minutes at 4:57.18. The time was also a personal best for the freshman from Casstown, Ohio. Classmate Melissa Thompson ended in 10th place, clocking in at 5:03.17.

When it was all said and done, Ohio University Track & Field finished in 10th place at the MAC Indoor Championships held at Bowling Green State University.  The Bobcats will take a select few athletes to Notre Dame this coming week for a last chance meet to qualify for Nationals.  The rest of the team will begin preparing for the outdoor season which begins on March 18-19 at the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina University.
