There are several prospects in the state of Nebraska that I am truly hoping Ohio looks to recruit this next cycle.

*Zach Martin, QB out of Omaha North. ***JUCO-Iowa Western COMMIT*** This kid is a natural leader, with a big arm and a great football sense. I just saw him at the Nebraska State Wrestling Meet and he is every bit of 6’3” with a very nice frame. I have watched him play several times. This kid is DI. ***2nd Team All Nebraska

*Millard North Nick DeLuca *** 1st Team All Nebraska (LB) ***NDSU COMMIT***, North Dakota, SDSU, South Dakota offers.  I believe that DeLuca is the best LB in this class in the state of Nebraska outside of Banderas of LSW who Nebraska has already offered. To be honest, I believe DeLuca has a better nose for the football and he brings a level of intensity and open field tackling that would be a nice addition at Ohio.

*Freeman Coleman, DL out of Millard South. ***DID NOT SIGN***  This kid is massive and aggressive. Just a stud. Not much more to say. He is not blockable with one OL.  ***1st Team All Nebraska

***Juniors-To-Be…
*Foster, DL out of LSE (6'3" 327lbs). *** 1st Team All Nebraska...Athletic freak.                                    ***Nebraska, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, Georgia Offers***
-Foster earned 1st Team Army All-American Junior Combine Honors

*R.J. Urzendowski out of Creighton Prep (6'1" 184lbs) *** 1st Team All Nebraska...is one of the best all around athletes in the state of Nebraska & has the speed/hands/ability to go up and get the ball to play at the next level.
RJ was invited to the Army All-American Junior Combine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP_9siK6iOs

*Matt Dietz, OL out of LNS is the younger brother of Bryce Dietz and is a no brainer for a DI offer. This kid is a gym rat, strong, athletic, and per my sources already ahead of where his brother was at this stage.

*Easton Stick, QB out of Creighton Prep. ***BEST QB IN STATE!!! (6'2" 192lbs at the Army All-American Junior Combine) Will go DI.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tqObW4RrM0

*Harrison Phillips out of Millard West. ***1st Team All Nebraska (6'4" 250lbs). This guy is also a state champion wrestler in the A220 weight class.  He is big, aggressive, and athletic.  Harrison will be a guy DI schools are looking heavily at.  Offers from Ohio & South Dakota State
Harrison was invited to the Army All-American Junior Combine

THE NEXT TWO CLASSES IN THE STATE OF NEBRASKA ARE GOING TO BE VERY SPECIAL & WITH BO PELINI NOT LOOKING IN-STATE, IT IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR OHIO TO GET SOME QUALITY TALENT. THE SOPHOMORE CLASS IN THE STATE IS BUILDING UP TO BE VERY, VERY SPECIAL WITH A HANDFUL OF SURE BET DI GUYS.

Thanks,

Updates....
***Rumor has it Nick DeLuca of Millard North is getting a lot of attention from several DI schools and will receive an offer any day.  ***North Dakota State Commit***
***Dillon Gartner is gaining a lot of attention as well. He is big, strong, and can move very, very well. This kid is a gem.
***JUCO-Iowa Western Commit)***
***Freeman Coleman has the frame. I saw him again recently and he is a big and I expect him to have a very big year at Millard South. ***Not Signed***
***Najee Jackson. I am hearing he will likely go to ***JUCO-Iowa Western Commit***.

A Nebraskan for Ohio!

My source is very high on Najee Jackson. He, Vick, and Bender (LSW to KState, 2012) have known each other a long time, and were very competitive. Of the three, only Jackson has a state championship, and he thinks Jackson may end up the best of the three. He also disputes that Pelini is solely focused out of state, but says the rumor is that coaches' sons get offers ahead of others.

It's kind of odd, I have to say, to see Nebraska focusing recruiting on Ohio (3 of 7 so far are from Ohio), and Ohio recruiting Nebraska, but whatever works, I guess. It actually ends up a great deal for Ohio as they have landed some very good players.

Ohio is the first to offer DeLuca.

Very nice offer! DeLuca is a stud. I believe Najee Jackson will get one eventually as L.C. spoke on his talent. The kid has so much athleticism and manages the field very well.

I have seen Schlager's(Colorado State Commit) name listed on various articles several times over the past 3 years as he started as a sophomore for Class B powerhouse McCook; but I have never seen him play.  I asked a couple of my coaching friends that coach in the class he plays in and I was told by one coach that Jake and Dillon Gartner from Giltner, NE are the two best out west in Nebraska.  Again, I have not seen him play but I was told he is an impact player on defense and very athletic. I know he was injured last season.

I actually really want to see him on film.   It goes to show though that Nebraska is not looking much in-state and there is some very good talent in this upcoming class.  I believe the one following will be even stronger.  We have some very talented Juniors to be in the state.

If I hear anymore I will post...

Thanks,

Blob

Doc, I have a new name for you to watch in Nebraska.  Senior-to-be Casey Sayles (6'4", 240-250LB TE/DE) out of Omaha North.  The Omaha Metro Football Camp is going on right now and it includes the Omaha Public Schools plus a few random schools.  I believe the total schools there are about 10.  Casey Sayles was easily the most physically imposing player out there.  He ate up the offensive line of one of the other strong Metro schools and moves very, very well for a big guy.  Yesterday South Dakota offered him at camp.  There is a lot of young talent in the Metro out there at camp but without question the most impressive was Sayles. I believe his stock will be rising fast as he hits camps this summer.

Thanks,

Blob

Hey Doc, this is the kid from the OPS Camp last week.  Apparently, he is getting a strong look from the Skers.  The OC at Omaha North told me this kid is young for his grade and should actually be going into his Junior Season.  Still more growing to do.

Sayles gets a hard look

"
Omaha North's Casey Sayles was getting a look on Tuesday by Nebraska at defensive tackle and tight end.
Omaha (Neb.) North tight end Casey Sayles one of the top five prospects in the state for the class of 2013.

The 6-foot-4, 258 pound Sayles took part in Tuesday's practice sessions, along with Viking quarterback
Zach Martin.

Sayles has the ability to play several positions, and was even getting a hard look from the Husker coaching staff as a defensive tackle, where he ultimately may grow in to for the future.

Martin and Sayles have a busy camp month ahead as they plan to hit several one day sessions across the country."

Big Friday for several prospects in Nebraska's first week of the high school football season. Out of Creighton Prep a pair of 2014 prospects had a huge first game of the season against a tough Omaha Burke team.  (2014 QB) Easton Stick threw for 300 yards & 2 td’s. He added a td on the ground. His top target was speedster (2014 WR) R.J. Urzendowski who had 5 catches for 159 yards and 2 td’s. The two were critical in a come from behind victory for Creighton Prep.

Lincoln Southeast’s (2013 QB) Najee Jackson ***JUCO-Iowa Western Commit***  also threw for two scores and a two point conversion to lead the number 1 team in the state to victory over Millard West.

Omaha North’s (2013 QB) Zach Martin ***JUCO-Iowa Western Commit*** threw for 4 td’s in a blowout victory over Omaha Benson.

More to Come….

2014 Nebraska HS players showing well at Army All-American Junior Combine today (Updated 6:28)

This is what has been reported of their performances so far through the testing portion of the combine.

  • Lincoln Southeast ATH Luke Gifford with a 33 inch vertical
  • Creighton Prep QB Easton Stick measured in at 6'1.5, 192-pounds, 36 inch vertical
  • Millard West DE Harrison Phillips measured in at 6'3, 248-pounds, 30 inch vert, 4.5 shuttle, 30 reps @ 185lbs (second place)
  • Creighton Prep WR R.J. Urzendowski hit 36 inches on the vertical jump, 4.2 shuttle
  • Lincoln NorthStar RB Austin Rose 4.6 40yd, 4.1 shuttle, 32.5 inch vertical

***Spoke with RJ Urzendowski tonight and he said that he was able to catch 7/8 passes in the one on one's and felt he performed very well.  The surface is a slow surface so forty times were a bit down for everyone..... Harrison Phillips did very well as did Easton Stick (QB) out of Creighton Prep.  Urzendowski has strong interest in Ohio, I am hearing that Phillips is a fan of Iowa, and I know Stick wants to play where ever he has a good relationship with the staff and feels he can play.  These five players are all guys Ohio should be looking at.  As I have said, this is a huge year for talent in the state of Nebraska.  More to come....

Hearing Nebraska is close to offering Phillips of Millard West....Urzendowski is getting a lot of attention from Iowa, Tulsa, Nebraska, etc...Gifford getting a lot of attention from Nebraska, and surrounding schools after earning an Honorable Mention spot on the Army All-American Junior Combine Team...Easton Stick hearing from Tulsa, Nebraska, Stanford, Michigan State, and Notre Dame...and Clay Fisher gaining steam from Nebraska & Iowa where he has a brother in each program.

I believe Sayles who is a current Ohio commit will stay with Ohio even if Nebraska moves in the picture...my sources tell me he really likes Ohio and where the program is going.

If we have the schollies left we need DeLuca of Millard North in the class of 2013...

More to come....

Re: Sales. I hope the JUCOs and our roster players could keep him in a redshirt.  I really would hate to trade his true freshman contribution for a RS Sr. contribution. Very few true freshmen are ready to butt heads with the Lechners, Priors and McGraths.  Mr. Crutcher's freshman tutors were Herman and Strum.  He was quoted most respectfully in their regard as a frehman.   T. Scott comes to mind.  That 5th year after four years in the program can be special.
