This class is off to a very good start. I thought last year's class wasn't as good as the prior few years, so I'm hoping for an especially good class this year.

I agree that 2018 may not have been as good as 2016-17 but I still like it as im sure you do too. My early favorite from that class is Bryce Houston, LB. If he works hard I think we got a good one there. Overall, I cant recall a better group then we got the last 3 years. If things go the way I think, we are gonna have a killer defense in a year or two.

It's worth mentioning that this has to be a very small class. There are only 13 Seniors on the team. Even with normal attrition, I can't see this class being over, say, 18 players.,

So are you counting only those on ship? My count on the roster is 15 RS Seniors and two Seniors. I do not know which are not on scholarship. Who are you seeing not on ship?

Here is Ted's best guess at who is on Scholarship:
https://www.bobcatattack.com/football/recruiting.asp

The Seniors not on his list are:
Andrew Payne
Tyler Gullett
David Burroughs
Cameron Gunnels

If Payne or Gullett earns a starting position this fall, you'd like to think Ohio could find a scholarship for one or both, and most likely will if someone leaves the team, or one of the Freshman doesn't qualify (both of which are quite common).

J. Hagan RS Jr. has the season we all would love to see; 100+ tackles, 5 tfl, 3 sacks, 5+ Ints (2 rtn TDs), 15+ pbu, 6+ forced fumbles, 5+ fumble recoveries (2 rtn TDs), All American, Heisman Trophy finalist, ;-), ;-). He goes pro opening another ship.

I think the twin TE's from Athens are missing from Ted's list.

Yes, they are, and I believe they are on scholarship. There are a couple other small errors, as well, as I believe Meservy and Kuhar are in the wrong column.

If the Leurhmans are on scholarship, perhaps Chukwu is not, and perhaps Walton is a grayshirt, given that he was not announced with the rest of the class. That would get you back to 85. It's all a guess, though, as no one ever releases official lists of who is, and who isn't, among the 85 who are on scholarship.

Edit - Ted cleaned up the list, and I believe it is correct now.

I really like the 3 OL guys we have so far.

Another 1 or 2 OL guys and this class of linemen may be one of Our best.

I don't expect more than at most one more. This will be a small class, perhaps 15, but there are 4 Senior OL, so I expect OL to be over-represented.

Looks like Kicker Tristian Vandenberg may have recently committed to Ohio for 2019. Looks like he can do some in all phases of the kicking game (punt, FG, kickoffs) and could be immediately in the competition to help with kickoff distance.

While there are only 14 Seniors, five players are now gone, Tusha, Key, Cree, Seymour, and now Ball. Some scholarships may go to walkons, but because of all the losses already, another class of 22 or so seems like where we are headed.

I thought Kuhar was done as well, but I may be wrong. All I know is that I can’t keep up with all the changes. I have a hard time being optimistic with all the apparent losses. I’m expecting a class of 25 now, maybe more.

Yes, Kuhar is gone, but I had him included in the 14 Seniors, so it doesn't change the number of scholarships available for next year, though it does increase to 6 the number of walkons who can get a scholarship this year.

Note that on the official roster, for some reason they list Kuhar as a Redshirt-Junior, but I don't see any way that could be possible. He was in the 2014 recruiting class, the same as C. Brown, Irons, Lowery, White, Fox, Nelson, etc., all of whom are Redshirt Seniors this year. Even if he actually is a Redshirt-Junior, it doesn't change anything, because then there are only 13 Seniors, plus six players gone, as opposed to 14 Seniors and five players gone. Either way the total is 19.

Probably only a handful of spots left in the class. What positions would be ideal? Even with one running back commitment, Ohio still only has three on scholarship for next year. What else?

That makes sense considering there are two graduating wide receivers and a junior done with an injury, leaving next year's team without any scholarship senior wide receivers. But it has been a heavily recruited position the last few years. Three sophomores, three redshirt freshman and three true freshman on scholarship right now.

I have seen a decent amount of activity on Twitter for walkons. Most of which is captured on the Bobcat Attack Twitter account.

Good work BA!

A play right away corner, wideout and running back.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

How about adding a section to the first post for known preferred walkons as well?

Adding JUCO OL Gary Hoover is encouraging. JUCO OL lately have been Cooper, Anderson, Hayes and now Hoover. If Mr. Hoover can contribute the mean of what Cooper, Anderson and Hayes have contributed Ohio will have insurance against injury.
