Some of you may remember when my wife blamed our loss to NIU on the fact that they had a shuttle bus for their fans in Detroit and OHIO did not.  It became legendary here on BA and was the basis of all kinds of jokes and teases.

Well, I’m here to tell you that this weekend Ohio University finally did the shuttle bus thing right!  My Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) camp was the lead camp in a multi-camp ceremony at Rendville that rededicated a number of United States Colored Troops tombstones, including some that were replaced because of their deteriorating condition. The problem was that the Rendville cemetery is a little hard to get to from Rendville and there is not much parking available up on this hilltop.  So, what did Ohio Univeristy do?  They supplied a shuttle bus to take people who parked on the Rendville main drag up to the cemetery.  It worked very well and we attracted a crowd of over 60 people, probably about twice what we expected.

I recall that it was you who complained about the lack of shuttle service.

I'm now left to wonder whether General Lee's disastrous decisions at Gettysburg were somehow due to input from Mary Anna Randolph Custis Lee? If Gen. Pickett had only had a few shuttles available for troops...

Your memory would be wrong. I was relaying my wife's thoughts. That was very clear from the first post on shuttlebusgate. Nevertheless, your revisionist take on the Battle of Gettysburg deserves further research by your sidekick bobcatsquarepants.

No, clearly remember, you complained for your wife, and it came off as your feelings too.

But Good Times!

On important matters like these, it's always important to agree with one's wife! ;-)

I would feel terrible for the poor schmucks on civilwartalk.com that could have been subjected to a rant against the universe pining for free transportation.

They're probably used to marching to get somewhere.
