Jason just reported that so far 11 seniors are coming back for next year. This is a big development as it helps keep us competitive with the rest of the league. I say this as we should expect other schools to announce similar news.

I would go so far as to say that Tuggle is the most important but if you want to say "great" then Sink, Meservy, the Motleys and Hampton are huge returnees. If we get both Luehrmann's WATCH OUT!

Great news for the offensive line.
We could have a true freshman starting at center or move Sink there and pick the best backup for left tackle.
Losing two DEs will hurt but the Villanova transfer and maybe a true freshman could be in the rotation.

This could be lining up to be a great season. There will be transfers in to some of these other schools, but bringing back 11 kids that have worked and been in this program for years is huge. If Rourke can build on a solid 1st year, this team could really do some damage.

I have a hunch that this news we are celebrating on BA is a common theme throughout the MAC and college football.

Looking ahead to the 2021 schedule as the Bobcats travel to Louisiana and Northwestern back to back weeks in September. Both schools ended up ranked in the top 15 of the final AP poll.

You might not think it based on names only, but next year may be the most difficult non-conference schedule of Solich's tenure.

Probably the MAC more than any other conference since so few games were played and guys generally aren't going to go pro. It will be interesting to see what exactly happens at other schools.

Considering how weak Ohio's non-conference schedule usually is, that's not saying very much. Every year Ohio's strength of schedule is ranked at or near the very bottom of the FBS. Simply take a look at what the rest of the MAC traditionally plays and then compare it to Ohio. It's not even close. I'm not saying Ohio should be scheduling 3 away games vs P5 teams like some of our peers do, but I do think it's past time to start stepping up the non-conference competition. It's been long, long overdue. All of these good Ohio teams over the past decade have had very little opportunities to play quality non-conference opponents. The fact that Ohio has never beaten a Top-25 team in its history doesn't surprise me much, because you can't beat a Top-25 team unless you actually play one.

But if we did schedule a top 25 team, you'd guarantee an easy win.

2 of Ohio's 3 OOC opponents for next year are currently ranked in the Top 25. That was pre-bowl rankings... Both Northwestern and Louisiana won their bowl games.
I've seen crazier things happen.

Eh, I'm okay with our model. I definitely don't want to take the Kent State approach and play roadies with Penn State, Auburn, and Arizona State all in one year. Maybe have the buy game be a more consistent Top 25 mainstay (schedule Iowa or Virginia Tech instead of Rutgers or Boston College). Otherwise I'm good.

Agree 100% shabamon. Play one big money game and get paid, unlike what the prior AD negotiated.

You're looking at 2021, meanwhile I'm looking at 2022 like...ouchies.
But the funny thing is, Iowa State and Penn State might have new coaches by then.

I'd like to see Campbell buck the trend and build something long term at Iowa State. He probably lives like a king with his salary in Story County and Ames is a great town. He has done wonders for that program and I hope is very popular amongst Cyclone Nation.
He could jump ship to a program with unrealistic expectations and be run out of town in 3-4 years and have to start over again.
I know I was cheering for them all season was glad for that fanbase to experience all the highs they did (still feel bad about the way the BXII title game ended for them). Should be a contender again in '21.

Speaking of the O-Line....getting TJ Jackson from VaTech is huge...pencil the 370 pounder as a starter.
Jackson’s high school video looks like a pro lineman playing against middle schoolers.

Agreed, he’s been dominate at VT and a major contributor to that program.
