Tells us more. If true, it represents my worst fears. Julie going back to Arkansas to pick "her man," who may be Old Freak Nasty of a different hue. Let's hire Brian Smith and get rolling.

FWIW, he interviewed for our (Charlotte's) HC job about a week ago. Our chancellor used to work at Arkansas, so there was that connection. There were a few days we were thinking he might be the guy. Nope.

We speculate he was using us for some kind of leverage. My understanding is he would be taking a pay cut to be our coach.

This hire is in the area of something that might be plausible if we wanted it to happen but there are probably reasons why we don't.

Gonzalez arrived at Louisville in 2021, while Petrino left for the last time in 2018. I can't imagine she heard anything good about the guy. His name was Mud there by the time he left.

That MSNBC list seems completely unsourced to me. Can't imagine that dude has a scoop that nobody in Athens does. He didn't even mention the one contender we do know in Smith.

One of his assistants at many stops was the OL coach that was given to Knorr. He left us for Louisville then went on several stops with Bobby.
