$135/night at the Fairfield Marriot on Coastal Carolina's campus, looks like a newer building.

What To Know For The Myrtle Beach Bowl

ATHENS, Ohio — The Ohio football team is set to take on Georgia Southern in the Myrtle Beach Bowl on Dec. 16 in Brooks Stadium at Coastal Carolina University. Here are a few important things to know:

Clear Bag Policy

When packing for the bowl, be sure to follow the Costal Carolina Athletics clear bag policy. Approved bags include:

  • Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12" -- A logo no larger than 4.5" x 3.4" can be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag.
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" -- approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap.
  • Medically necessary items (after proper inspection at specified gates.
Costal Carolina does not allow pursues larger than a clutch bag, fanny packs, backpacks, cinch/drawstring bags, non-approved seat cushions, diaper bags, luggage of any kind, briefcases, computer bags, camera bags or binocular cases.

Each member of a family is allowed to carry a clear bag into the venue. For more specifics, click here.

Ticketing and Accessible Seating

Tickets can be purchased through the Ohio Bobcats portal. Ticket prices range from $35-55 depending on the level. Will call and the stadium box office both open at 9 a.m. on game day. General will call is located at the tent outside of Gate 1. Ohio will call is Gate 4.

Brooks Stadium does offer accessible seating that can be accessed through any gate. Ramps are located at Gate 1 and 6. Elevators are near gate 2, 4 and 6. To purchase tickets for accessible seating, please contact Marty McGinty at mmcginty@camelliabowl.com.

General Parking

All lots on campus other than the designated restricted or student parking lots are accessible for spectators on game day based on availability beginning four hours prior to kickoff. Please note that general parking lots will be shared with faculty/staff and students during weekday games and are subject to availability. University parking regulations remain in effect until 5 p.m. ET. Premium and Prime parking is only available with a lot-specific parking pass. Parking passes are available for purchase through https://myrtlebeachbowlgame.com/tickets/ for $20-50 each. Guests are encouraged to purchase passes in advance.

There is ADA-accessible parking in Lot AA adjacent to the HTC Center. Access to these spaces are on a first-come, first-serve basis for individuals with official state-issued ADA placards. Once spaces are filled, parking attendants will direct guests to alternative parking locations. Guests may choose to ustilize the drop-off service next to Brooks Stadium but will be required to exit the lot afterward and relocate the vehicle to the appropriate lot and space. A direct route ADA accessible shuttle provides transport from Lot AA to Brooks Stadium.

Tailgating Policy

Fans are limited to one parking space per car. Tailgates may be set up at your vehicle provided they do not block access for vehicular traffic passing through the lots. Common areas near your parking space, i.e. grassy areas, may be used for tailgating. Reserving or blocking parking spaces off is not permitted. Tailgating items (chairs, tables, tents, etc.) must be confined to the small area in front of or behind your vehicle. All glass containers or bottles and open fires are prohibited.

Pep Rally

The Ohio Bobcat Club and the Ohio University Alumni Association invite you to join us after the Official Myrtle Beach Bowl Pep Rally at The Hangout on the patio. Continue your afternoon with fellow members of Bobcat Nation as we get ready to cheer on our Ohio Bobcats before they take on the Georgia Southern! Enjoy special appearances from your favorite Ohio spirit squads, Rufus, and the Most Exciting Band in the Land, The Marching 110!

This event is $25 to attend and will include heavy hors d'oeuvres and two drink tickets for those 21+. The cost is $15 for those 12 and under. Please RSVP here.

If you have any questions, contact Corbin Marsh at marshc@ohio.edu.

For more information, please visit the official Myrtle Beach Bowl website.

First off, I am not going to the game as I have other commitments. However out of curiosity I just checked the Fairfield Inn and Suites on the Coastal Carolina Campus very near the stadium where the game will be played and found I would have no problem booking a room for this Friday through Sunday at a price cheaper than what I can get at the Athens Fairfield Inn and Suites on any given home football game weekend.

Supply and demand?

And for inquiring minds, today is our district's monthly late arrival and the students haven't arrived yet.

They can't give rooms away in beach towns during offseason. Been this way forever.

The game is actually in Conway, SC which is not a "beach town". Secondly, the Fairfield Inn and Suites I referenced is also next to the CCU campus and appears to be the closest Hotel/Motel to the stadium.

Thanks for the geography lesson, el genius. Look, if I'm traveling to the Myrtle BEACH Bowl, I'm staying on the beach. Especially when it's going to cost me about $20 on Priceline. I'm not going to fly in that close to the beach to stay 10 minutes from the ocean. Obviously, a lot of people feel that way. I'm sorry this shocked you. Also, you may be surprised to find out that a bowl game between the MAC and the Sun-Belt probably won't sell many tickets, but we'll discuss that when you post something along the lines of "the stands weren't full Saturday!"

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Middle James BreweryView map Free Event
Add to calendar

Come cheer on the Bobcats at Middle James Brewery in Pineville at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 16! Watch OHIO Football battle the Georgia Southern Eagles in the Myrtle Beach Bowl with your fellow Charlotte-area Bobcats! Friends and family are welcome, and complimentary appetizers will be available while supplies last. Alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages, and additional food will be available for purchase.

You might not be able to take to the field with our Bobcat Football team, but you can show your support for their hard work and show the Eagles the strength of the OHIO community by making a gift to the Bobcat Club or fund of your choice during our SOAR vs ROAR Challenge

From 2 p.m. EST Friday, December 15, through 2 p.m. EST Saturday, Dec. 16, we’re asking Bobcats to make a quick and easy online donation in any amount to the OHIO Bobcat Club (gifts to ALL funds count toward the challenge, and all will be available on the form with a quick search). Our goal: to rally Bobcat Nation and end the 24-hour window with more total donors than our bowl rivals!

The 24-hour challenge will kick off at 2 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 15, and you can keep an eye on the SOAR vs ROAR Challenge page while watching the game to make sure we’re staying ahead on and off the field.

This is our chance to show our Bobcat spirit and help our student athletes!

That's right. About a 2 1/2 hour drive from my home near Lancaster, S.C. I'll be there.
