Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

This probably won't turn out to be relevant to Nathan but then again you never know but when you set a QB as the emergency quarterback do you have to pass him through waivers first or does it count as an actual roster spot?

EDIT: The emergency quarterback roster spot takes the place of one of the inactive roster spots that are set 90 minutes before the game and is not a practice squad spot or new roster spot. Thus I would think waivers would not be necessary.

The preseason opportunity is real important for Rourke, as he will see some action. I also think that the Jags saw something in Rouke to offer him a contract in the first place.

Should be a fun preseason, and a reason to watch games.

I did not see any of it but it looks like a mixed bag for Rourke playing most of the second half as the third string QB for Jacksonville. He was only 9 of 17 on his pass attempts but got 153 yards and a TD on those attempts for a pretty good 103 QB rating. He had 20 rushing yards on 6 attempts (counting the loss on the final kneel down) with a touchdown but also lost a fumble.

EDIT: check out the TD highlight

Preseason or not, that touchdown pass was one of the best plays I've ever seen. That was electric and definitely made an impression. Twitter is drooling over it right now.

This should be a SportsCenter top 10 play, what a play. http://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/38181515

just watched his game. looked the part. was under constant pressure but never put the ball in harms way. played smart. had a few really nice throws and a few that were either just off or very catchable that receivers didn’t bring in. so completion % not an issue. ran for td as well. scrabble td was obviously very sweet. Beatherd is solid #2. that won’t change but rourke solid #3. so will be emergency qb. perfect team for him. be on sideline and learn. and make way more coin than cfl

As a Bobcat fan, I am amazed and impressed with Rourke's ability to stay on his feet and complete an amazing TD like that.

As a Dallas fan, I am disappointed yet not shocked from that series of missed tackles.

I think defenders being concerned about where they can hit a QB in the pocket made the simultaneous escape from the first two guys more likely than it would have been 15 year ago.

I am glad that he didn't twist is ankle or knee on his plant foot making a deep throw while being tackled from behind.

Loving all the social media posts still going on today. The NFL and ESPN accounts have posted and reposted the play dozens of times. Hopefully this gets him the QB2 role.

I just noticed that he is listed as 6'5" and 231 lbs.
I don't remember him being that large.
This is a huge advantage for him and us this year.

I assume that you mean Kurtis. He was listed at 6'3" last year.

I think they juiced the QB room a bit lol

CJ is listed at 6'4" too.

Kurtis does look every bit of 6'5" though. Check out this picture of him standing next to Russ, he looks like Victor Wembanayama.

Another great week, he led at least three scoring drives in one half, he could have scored on the last drive. He almost had a TD pass on a beautiful throw but the receiver couldn’t get his foot down. He did almost get a wide receiver killed. He went 10-12 for about 140 yards. He looks better than the backup but his coach said that the number 2 b spot is locked up. Here is a great article about his position on the team. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nfl/article/jaguars-confirm-rour... /
