Boise State lost in the regular season to Oregon and because it was Oregon was in the playoff anyways as a 1 loss team. That is different from saying the game itself is of super importance. It's not, because a loss isn't a big deal. Even coming off our dream season, we will be 35+ point underdogs. At our non-P5 level, winning the conference should always be the primary goal and focus. The Mountain West was rated lower than the MAC last season and Boise State did it while losing to Oregon. Of course Ohio would be in the playoff if it was undefeated with OSU on the schedule.
