I think Jax State was outgunned a bit talentwise and had a bad matchup with Ohio's run defense. I think he threw the dice when necessary and had his team ready for a comeback in the second half. I hope he gets an HC opportunity someday. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. This apparently was his plan for a week, not sure. When Gibson was hired he said that every assistant position was hired except for one spot. Only three of the new Marshall assistant coaches have been announced. Smith was also apparently offered the same position at wvu, but took the Marshall job because he would have complete control of the offense. FYI: Gibson was formerly Rich Rod's defensive coordinator.
