That makes three bowl-game QBs on last year’s roster. 🤯

Here is the article with the quote. Whatever the case, it didn't seem like OHIO was a good fit for him. I wish him well and good luck in his bowl game.

He only got to play 10 games in four years because Parker was hurt.

BTW…how is he only a sophomore?

First play I watched was him throwing a deep ball that was a few yards short (not shocking) and into double coverage (…..). Another old friend, Jett Elad was the one who almost picked it off.

Both CJ and Parker going for 2nd career bowl start and victory. Kurtis trying for first ever program playoff win.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended

First time Kurtis ever made it to postseason.

No hate. Just a fact.

Does Cal have better players, CJ? I think its debatable but what a tone deaf comment to make, took shots at his old teammates and coaches in one full swoop.

I watched while he was in.
The story I read said he was injured during the game. Did anyone see what happened?

LOOOOL WOW

That really surprises me. He was an impressive, well-spoken kid who was focused on his life after college. He told me he wanted to enter the Sports Ad program. I met him at one of the OBC Caravan events. Spoke with him for no more than 3 minutes yet the next day he connected with me via LinkedIn.

I was about ready to post something very similar. Though I never spoke with him personally, I was always very impressed with the maturity and clarity of the statements he made in interviews. I remember telling my wife that he sounded much better educated and had a better vocabulary than the average college football player. So, like you, this statement surprised me, and seems somewhat out of character with the young man that we once had at OHIO. I wondered if he could have been misquoted. All I heard yesterday was a sideline reporter quoting him, or paraphrasing his remarks.

I wish CJ the best.

We have a pretty damn good QB in Athens, thank you.

Edit: At least for now...

I'm sure he didn't really think about how it would be received in Athens.

But also, is he wrong?

“To be better, you have to put yourself in competitive situations,” Harris said. “I feel like coming here is going to let me play with better talent, play with better players, and be around a better coaching staff and having that big environment to kind of grow.”

Isn't that why people transfer up? To challenge themselves against better players and get coached by better coaches, with better facilities, and more resources? He's just saying aloud what we all know, right?

Certainly Cal has a more expensive coaching staff. Does more expensive always mean better?

Nope!

No, not always. But in the aggregate having a larger budget for head coaches, assistants, staff and resources is likely to result in P5 programs having a higher caliber of coach/player/facilities. There's no flaw in his logic.

Well, there is. He had competition for the starting QB at Ohio (any QB at Cal better than Rourke or Navarro?). He played with good players at Ohio, maybe better than the players at Cal. And the coaches, I mean it would be hard to argue that Cal coaches are significantly better.

He had battled injuries at Ohio and it looked like he was going to retire from the game. He opted to go to Cal where it was fairly clear he would not play. But Cal is a quality school so good for him. Not sure what Ohio did to him for what he gave them in return. I think his performance last night speaks for itself.
