Man, this guy has incredible hands. Sure wish we would've been able to see more than one season of his play. Nonetheless, what a season it has been. He currently has 882 yards receiving with two regular season games remaining and possibly/hopefully two additional games.

He has a chance (and a somewhat decent one) of having the most receiving yards in a season by an OHIO receiver. There have only been two OHIO receivers to eclipse 1,000 yards in a season. The gold standard was Lavon Brazill's 2011 season, when he had 1,150 yards and 11 touchdowns. The only other player to cross 1,000 yards was Donte Foster with 1,018 (7 touchdowns) in 2013.

Coleman has 882 yards (88.2 ypg) so far after a massive game last night. He has five touchdowns. A big week next week could possibly get him over 1,000 yards. If he plays three more games this season (2 regular season and 1 bowl game), he would need to do only slightly better than his current average to pass Brazill, needing 89.33 yards per game. If he HOPEFULLY gets four more games in the season, he would need 67 ypg to be our new all-time single season receiving record.

I thought he was good, but had no idea he was closing in on Brazill's record. I'm rooting for him to break that record. He's one amazing WR!

He's absolutely incredible and I expect big things in his final 3-4 games the record definitely within reach. He just does everything right. I feel like he should get a look in the pros. Sure he is a small guy but so was Brazil.

More impressive is that he's putting up these numbers in an offense that is not pass-heavy. When Brazill had 1150 yards, he did it in a year where Tyler Tettleton threw for 3306 yards (team total of 3482 with Phil Bates). That means that Brazill accounted for 33% of all receiving yards on the team. When Foster achieved his 1,000 yard season two years later, TT again led the passing attack with 2,851 yards (team total of 3,190). Foster accounted for 32% of all receiving yards.

This year? Well, Owen is doing this in an offense where Parker Navarro, who has been improving, has only thrown for 1,636 yards (team total of 1,871 with Poulos). That means Coleman Owen has contributed 47%! of all receiving yards this year. That's almost half of all passing yards. He comes through when the team needs it.

Agree with everything said here. Becoming a solid secondary receiver, however, has been Chase Hendricks. The exciting thing with Hendricks is that he is a sophomore with (hopefully) two more years left.

I hope Coleman Owen is rewarded with a UDFA contract in the NFL. I have to admit that it would be somewhat ironic if receivers left here hoping for more NFL attention elsewhere, and then someone else popped in at Ohio and ends up with a contract.

His ability to see the ball and be oblivious to the kind of hit me might take after reception is what impresses me most. He's ever bit as good as Wiglusz, even with fewer stats.

The hit he took on the play that started at the 1:23 mark of this video, and then to not only hold on to the ball, but to just flip back up on to his feet immediately like he did. He is tough as nails just like we like our players at OHIO.

Owen has been a revelation. Between he and Tyus we barely miss Cross and Sieh. I believe this staff did an outstanding job of replacing our lost guys with new guys who have really acclimated to the culture and tradition and who simply go out and play football. Guys like McNaboe, Leake and Dustin Johnson just hit people. And Doggette is starting to look like he will be a good one if we can keep him. Walker-Burgess has also been outstanding. Just wish we had offensive line depth. I thought Cisse would be that guy after starting at Idaho but he isn't on the 2-deep.

It turns out they found a guy from the DL in Weatherspoon, and Heidecker and Allen were the transfers that helped the most on the OL. Lemus (a JUCO) also appeared in one game.

Any prognosis on when Owen will return from injury? I guess if Gossett can fill in for him again against Ball State, it would be good to rest him anyways though.

It looked like the reason he left the game was a concussion. I'm guessing that he won't play.

Yeah, that's my understanding that it was a concussion as well. Here's to hoping Owen has a speedy and full recovery.

Albin is hopeful that Owen can play. Game-time decision.

Thanks! Great news to hear that he is making good progress on the pathway to recovery.

Damn. Better than a broken colar bone, which is what I originally thought it looked like.

Hope he's good to go soon. Really gonna need him.

Well, your hopes were certainly answered.

Best case scenario for OHIO going into the MAC Championship now.

With 118 more yards this season (hopefully Saturday in the first half alone!), Coleman Owen could own the single-season receiving record at OHIO, surpassing Lavon Brazill. Will be interesting to see Owen's in the record books and whether Bobcat fans remember this one-hit wonder years from now.

I had no clue he's had the season he did until I saw a tweet saying he was only the 3rd Bobcat to eclipse 1k yards in a season (Brazill & Foster). He's a mount rushmore WR at Ohio and I feel like not many people know this.

100%

The quietest 1000 yard season in history. Top 15 in the country in receiving with a QB who doesn't even have 2000.

And Tyus also. Right there. 960 yards in 10 or 11 games. Hell in two games he had less than 10 carries.

It's been said already but the amount of quality replacement players the staff got out of the portal shows they are solid evaluators of talent and fit with our culture. Defensively we are solid because of our new guys (Leake, Johnson, Walker-Burgess, Doggett, McNaboe, Rice, Seegars and Mack) and offensively Parker was a transfer previously along with this year's guys Tyus, Owen, Bruno and Heidecker.

I do want to give props to the guys who stuck around as well: Atkinson, Titsworth, Hendricks, Mason Williams, Adonis, Shay Taylor, Weaver, Henderson, Parodie, Tank....Spetic!!

You're exactly right to give shout outs to these returning contributors. I almost feel like Senior Recognition Night needs to give way to Returning Contributor Night or something similar. We shouldn't just be recognizing seniors who may have been here for a year (and could be on their second or third senior year with the way eligibility works today).

"Only" 73 yards and 1 TD today, so he'll still need 45 in the bowl. Tyus, however, blasted by 1000 yards all the way to 1111, #9 in Ohio history. He needs 141 in the bowl to get into the top 5.

Interesting take, considering today's performance.
