With the loss of Kellogg, we now have an extra scholarship available for this recruting class if we want to use it, but maybe we shouldn't.
I believe with the two verbal committments we've received, we could get two more players. But we have no juniors on this year's roster now, so that means that if we do give out both of those, we'll have none left for next season.
Should we hold one or two of them so we can actually add a player next recruting season?

With our proclivity of losing players for dumbfounded reasons, we may end up having a scholarship to use next year.
I could see us sitting on one of the available scholarships. Remember that we have Offut and Smith joining the action next year, so they will further influence the team's changing dynamic along with Taylor and Mitchell.
I think we definitely need another big. A Jarrod Jones type of player would be nice. Big man should be the priority. If we choose to use both scholarships, I'd like to also pursue an athletic combo forward...another Hall/Horne kind of player.

There are only five players in the recruting database who have not verball comitted somewhere, and of those, only two actually have been offered by Ohio: PG Patrick Lewis-Perry from Michigan and SG Rashawn Rembert from Florida.
The other three are lower-tier players that I doubt the Bobcats have too much interest in anymore now that they've secured a couple of other better players: SG Brandon Neel of Ohio, SF Jacob Williams of Illinois and SG Jon Trawick of Indiana.
We already got a point guard in this recruiting class, plus PG/SG Kellogg the year before and Cooper from the year before that, so even though Lewis-Perry is rated pretty highly, maybe he isn't a fit here anymore. It seems his interest is minimal anyway, from what I have read.
That leaves Rembert, although I'm sure there are guys none of us have heard about Ohio recruiting, but right now I wouldn't be surprised if this year's class is only the two players who have committed so far. That would leave us to be able to get at least two next year with scholarships available.

Rembert has given a verbal to ETSU. |

I hadn't heard about that one, so that just leaves one guy that we know that has been offered a scholarship. I'm sure there could be some that we don't know about, too. Maybe a big guy?
What does anyone think we should or will do with the last two scholarships remaining for this class?

Personally, in an ideal world I'd try to get a big, bruising rebounder to play defense in the post in this class, and then hold the other scholarship for a 2012 wing. After this year we have Jon Smith to replace DeVaughn as an athletic forward, but have not yet replaced Kellogg's expected defense and rebounding (and Kellogg himself was expected to replace KVK in that regard).
At the same time, however, I wouldn't take any old big just to fill the scholarship. If the coaching staff isn't in on any bigs that are talented enough for 2011, or think that we have a real chance at multiple difference makers in the 2012 class, then I'd hold both for next year.

I personally think Ivo is the athletic forward to replace DeVaughn. The kid can run, jump, and has some muscle to him... Just gotta get the basketball skills squared away, much like DeVaughn did.
I've seen crazier things happen.

Sure, but he's already on the roster. I was talking about where we need to add bodies.

Yeah, my thought is definitely to hold on to one of the scholarships, and only use the other if we can get a high-quality big guy.
