Was wondering if any BAers know Thomas Suddes, formerly of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and currently teaching in the EW Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.

I am an admitted dinosaur in that I still religiously read the Columbus Dispatch print edition and there's nothing I look forward to more than Suddes' weekly column in the Sunday opinion pages of the Dispatch. In fact, I consider it must reading for those wanting to stay up to date with the goings on in our state and nation's capital.

A tidbit from today, when describing Jim Jordan, "who is to microphones what iron fillings are to magnets."

I know Tom. He's a very good man, with a lot of integrity. He's an officer in my Sons of Union Veterans camp.

I too read his articles in the Sunday Dispatch plus I get to see him twice a month during the school year in that he brings his students to the first and third Monday night city council meetings. In the interviews that we often do after the council meetings, I find his students well prepared and enthusiastic about their work.

Every once in a while he throws out an opinion piece that I have a different opinion on and I've emailed him about that. Unfortunately I didn't get a response

All in all, he represents something that most papers lack today which is really really sad.

Suddes was one of my favorite profs in Scripps. Very rare of me to take two different classes with the same prof. I was picky. Learned a lot from him.
