Quick look at how are favorites are doing (projected to be doing)

Jeff Boals 725,000
Tim Albin 550,000 (700,000)
Marvin D. Nellis 662,248.53
Lori Stewart Gonzales (600,000)
Frank Solich 464,054.32
Hugh Sherman 450,970.70

http://projects.thepostathens.com/SpecialProjects/ohio-un... /

A few takeaways:

-Surprised to see Jeff Boals still at the top without a performance bonus type season. What this indicates to me is he very well may be at the same base salary of TA and with a TA type clause (automtaic extension with 22 wins?).

-OU moving forward is paying $1,164,054.32 million for two FB coaches (Albin, Solich).

-OU has been paying $1,113,219.23 for two college presidents with Nellis making over 200k more than Sherman.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

Why are Nellis and Solich still on the payroll and for how long? Not a surprise that I don’t think coaches should be our highest paid employees in Athens.

Frank had only a 1 year contract with a roll0ver. So good question, unless he's their consultant still?

I think Frank's still doing some consultant work and fund raising, but not at that salary. I think that list is not up-to-date. I believe I saw elsewhere that Nellis was now making around $250,000 to teach geography -- probably the highest paid professor outside of some in the medical school and, perhaps, engineering. In the former case you can't rely on published figures because they don't include money from the practice plan, which, though a matter of public record, is not routinely included on salary reports.

https://www.ohio.edu/hr/compensation-pay/salary-database

This database says Frank made $36,279 in 2022. I'm sure the university one is more accurate.

The Most EXCITING Band in the Land
for about $150k per year for Suk and Boyer!

What a deal; way underpaid for the PR value to the U.

How about this for pay equity:

Men's Golf--Brennan Whitis, $31k

Women's Golf--Patricia Ovington $76k

One has been at OHIO 4 years the other has been there well over a decade, so you think they should be paid the same?

Yeah, that's probably it, BTC. Or maybe, just maybe, he wasn't aware of the difference in years on the job. Possibly?

So do I think they should be paid the same? ANSWER, NO. Not at all. But over 100% more jumps out!

Nah, that doesn't strike me as unfair. Either it is supply/demand for a position or the guy at 3x the 1x guy is a far better negotiator for himself. Perhaps the men's golf coach should talk with the women's coach and instead of a golf lesson get tips on how to increase his pay.

1. The fact that Nellis makes that much money tells you there is a sucker born every minute. In reality, 15 of them appointed by Little Mikey DeWine. No talents.

2. The Golf thing is no coincidence. The rumor forever was that Bob Cooley basically did the job for free so he could stay in power, and well, you get what you pay for. The man should never have been Coaching in College Athletics. A complete disgrace and his results for 20+ years prove exactly that. If you wonder why someone could field such a horrible, horrible Men's Golf team for 20+ years straight - ask yourself - did he do the job for free? Now this poor new guy has to inherit a 31k salary to do the job, because Cooley set the bar so low. Brutal.

He did it for what some high school football and basketball coaches in SE Ohio make.

Imagine coaching and trying to recruit players to a college that only has a 9 hole course where you can't play from the traps and can play the entire course with a driver, wedge and putter.

Before we give him a Congressional Medal of Honor, how much do you think Union Printing made from the University Printing contracts and were there RFP's handled in accordance with University Sourcing regulations at the time? It's a shame FOIA didn't exist back in the mid to late 90's.

It didn't have to be that way. A visionary leader of the golf program could have fixed the situation with the facilities LONG AGO. There were donors ready to lineup for anyone BUT Bob Cooley. Glidden, Mac, Hocutt, Schaus, Roderick, etc all cuckolded themselves out to Cooley to let him stay in power on the cheap. Sad. A once proud program under Kermit fell into complete disrepair because of a lack of competancy at the top of the program and in the Athletic Department. Absolute negligence and corruption IMO.

I know for a fact there were several donors lined up to help out on facilities in a HUGE way back in the late 90's/early 00's, but wouldn't give a dime if Cooley was still running the program. I hope the townspeople were happy letting him stay in power while the program suffered, all so they could kiss his ass at ACC in his personal golf cart.

Behold! The great and powerful Bob Cooley and his $30,000 salary! Bow down all ye presidents and development officers and board of trustee members! And, apparently they all did. Makes total sense.... Right?.... Hmmmm. I dunno Bobcat Love this one is tough to follow.

As the global warming keeps heating up Southern Ohio, an 18 hole golf course could get played at least 8 months.... Would be fun for one to appear. But, golf courses are dinosaurs these days, no?

Ohio's FOIA was enacted in 1963
The federal FOIA bill was signed and passed by LBJ in 1966

Just curious where all those donors are today now that Cooley is gone? And FOIA were around. Also, the University has it's own printing shop.

A well designed and maintained 18 hole course would go very well in Athens with the closest top quality course an hour away in South Zanesville. People in Athens travel to Mason, WV, Belpre, Jackson, Lancaster, Circleville, Granville and Columbus regularly to play. Challenge number one would be locating so that it doesn't endanger the river and our water supply.
