Announced tonight he's headed to Division II University of Charleston: https://x.com/BenNicol0/status/1910153966626742326

Their coach, James Long, just finished his first season, 18-10 but 14-6 in the Mountain East, a VERY good conference. he has a strong track record of improving year-to-year.

Also in the MEC is Concord, whose men's head coach is still 2001 Bobcat graduate Todd May

Where does this rank as one of the biggest HS recruit misses by this staff?

Nothing but the best for the kid as he plays some more ball while working on a degree.

Wouldn't it be better to be gracious toward Ben as he transfers to a better situation, rather than using it as an opportunity to criticize the coaches?

LaFerla twins.

As for Mr. Nicol, I only saw him play twice and was surprised by his lack of hustle. Very casual approach to the game.

As someone mentioned above the LaFerla twins have to rank up there as a huge miss! I hope Ben can make a difference at Charleston a decent D2 school. Charleston is better than UC Clermont, Defiance and Muskingum that Ohio loves to schedule! Some of you give Boals much more credit than he deserves for his 5 seeds yearly and his top salary in the conference. Of course the current AD rewarded Boals with the highest salary in the league along with secretly renewing the womens hoops coach with that fabulous record the last four years. I'm not even going to mention the outstanding baseball hire! Keep applauding this wonderful AD!

If you spent as much time fundraising for your NIL collective that you’re the CEO of as you did complaining on the internet, OU would have the highest fund in the country.

I have given several thousands to the Bobcat NIL collective, but I am not a billionaire. I am a taxpayer and an Ohio graduate who understands that this current administration has made several huge mistakes with personnel. These aren't complaints, but facts. Some of you don't want to listen to facts. I'm not willing to give this administration a hall pass for these blunders like some of you are.

Congrats on being a taxpayer. Rarefied air.

You can’t admit some of the decisions you’re overly critical about were fine, if not good, because your best friend Timmy A didn’t like the AD. Albin overplayed his hand after a mediocre start to the season and ended up taking a Charlotte job where he’ll be making even less money than he was at Ohio because he has to pay the buyout himself. He needs a new agent. Anyway, Boals got a new deal because he won a ncaa tournament game and won the league. Isn’t that what you wanted for your friend Tim? You’re upset the athletic department extended the guy for winning, but you’re critical of the athletic department for not doing the same for Tim. It’s hypocritical.

It’s infuriating that this guy is not just a fan spouting nonsense but the leader of the OU collective. If the collective is actively working against every coach and ad except the ones he’s close friends with, OU doesn’t stand a chance.

Burner- Boals was the highest paid coach in the MAC in 2024-25 season. Do you actually think he deserved to be at the top of the conference with his yearly five seed performances? If so, the real estate agents in Athens County have some beachfront property to sell you in Albany. Toledo, Akron and Kent have better conference records in Boals six seasons in Athens. Last time I checked, the man is paid to coach all season, not just for a three game tourney in March. If you are a season ticket holder, do you enjoy watching Ohio finish no better than a three seed twice and usually a five seed or worse during Boals tenure? 16 wins with zero power four teams on the schedule this past season! That performance certainly deserves the top salary in the conference. Do you also think the womens basketball coach winning six total games twice in the last three seasons is doing a great job? The womens program hasn't accomplished a winning record the last four years. That wonderful performance certainly deserves a secret contract renewal from the administration. How about the baseball coach and the splendid job that program is doing? You have to be elated with the administration on all those mistakes. Keep giving your buddy the AD slaps on the back for all these outstanding personnel decisions. And no, I am not the leader of a collective! However, I recognize huge blunders in personnel decisions that this administration continues to make.

You don’t get to raise or lower the salary of a head coach based on the prior year’s performance. Does boals deserve a raise or extension based off of this season? Of course not. But arguing he didn’t deserve the bump and long term extension after winning the league tournament and a national tournament game is just bad business. You want Ohio to keep coaches, but don’t want them extended or rewarded for national success? Or is that just Albin that deserves that?

I’m less familiar with the WBB situation but why are you calling it a secret extension? There’s no media in Athens. Boals extension went unnoticed as well, no? Everyone on this board was unaware for months he was extended. This isn’t some plot to get Boldon a new deal under the table, it just wasn’t reported on. Yes; they’ve been bad. But it’s simply not as black and white as you make it out to be.

You keep saying huge blunders this administration is making. Didn’t this administration sign your friend Tim? Stick with him after losing to a partially funded FCS school?

You’re the CEO of the collective. Go fundraise and be the change you wish to see.

It’s infuriating that this guy is not just a fan spouting nonsense but the leader of the OU collective. If the collective is actively working against every coach and ad except the ones he’s close friends with, OU doesn’t stand a chance.

Had no idea that 1996 ran a collective. No wonder we're completely irrelevant when it comes to NIL.

LOL This dude again... what a nitwit.

Did we ever figure out whether he or she was Albin's agent, or Tim's sister? I kind of lean toward the second theory.

So let's get some clarity here - there is the Ohio NIL Exchange -- https://app.inflcr.com/exchange/ohio-university - (Billy is this the entity you are referring to when you reference "the collective" ?) -- who oversees this? where do the funds come from? who decides which athletes get funds?

There is also the NIL Sports Collective (the "1804" website - https://1804sportcollective.com ) that is a "fan-driven and alumni-led Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) program for Ohio University" that is part of a consortium of "fan-driven and alumni-led Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) programs" created and managed by Blueprint Sports, a for profit business set-up in response to the emergence of NIL - https://www.blueprintsports.com - same questions as above -- who oversees this (the 1804 program)? where do the funds come from? who decides which athletes get funds?

And then the "connection" questions - do the two entities above (the "Exchange" and "1804") work in unison? is there coordination? if so, how? if not why not? Does "1804" give their dollars to the "Exchange" Are there other groups in or trying to get in on the process?

I'm sure there are more questions and better clarity - but that's a start.
