ATHENS – Miami missed 24 straight shots in the first half, and Ohio rolled to a 77-46 victory against its rival Saturday at The Convo.

Jason Preston posted a triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

"Most importantly we got the win," Preston said. "We were on a four-game losing streak and to come in here and beat our rival, that's what's most important."

Jordan Dartis broke Nick Kellogg’s school 3-point record, finishing with 11 points.

"When it comes down the road I'm going to look back on it and see that it's big time,"Dartis said. "I'm very appreciative and I'm very humbled. I passed Nick Kellogg. Shout out to him. He's a great OU legend and to pass him, it's a great feeling."

Ben Vander Plas added 18 points, and Ben Roderick had 11 points off the bench.

"To start the game, we wanted to set the tone and set the rules," Ohio coach Jeff Boals said. "We wanted to be the aggressor. I thought we were the aggressor on both ends. Ball pressure, fighting through screens and really getting into the gaps. I thought we were able to do that and that set the tone for the game."

Nike Sibande’s 3-pointer with 17:05 left in the first half gave the RedHawks (9-14, 2-8 Mid-American Conference) a 5-3 lead, but they did not hit another field goal until Isaiah Coleman-Lands’ 3-pointer with just 22 seconds left that made it 34-11 at halftime. Miami shot just 10.3% in the first half, including 1 of 18 on 2-point shots.

The Bobcats had a 15-0 run after Sibande’s 3-pointer, with the RedHawks finally snapping a 10-minute scoreless streak with a pair of Sibande free throws. He made another free throw with 5:20 left in the half to make it 20-8, and Ohio followed with 14 straight points.

"We come down and we missed three layups in the first four minutes, but give our guys a lot of credit," Boals said. "After the first media timeout we were down 5-3 and they didn't panic. They came out and turned up the pressure."

The Bobcats went up 48-16 on a Sylvester Ogbonda basket with 14:07 remaining in the game, and the RedHawks got only as close as 58-39 with 8:28 left.

Sibande led Miami with 12 points, but it came on 2-of-9 shooting. None of his teammates scored in double figures.

Ohio hosts Western Michigan at 7 p.m. Tuesday at The Convo.
